Ferric Chloride (FeCl₃)

Ferric Chloride, also known as Iron(III) Chloride, is a highly acidic, inorganic compound supplied as dark green to reddish-brown crystals or solution. It is fully water-soluble and forms strongly acidic solutions, making it one of the most widely used industrial coagulants. Produced by reacting chlorine with iron or ferrous chloride, Ferric Chloride is valued for its strong flocculating and oxidizing properties. Ferric Chloride is primarily used in wastewater treatment, drinking water purification, and industrial effluent processing, where it effectively removes suspended solids, heavy metals, and phosphorus. It also serves in etching of printed circuit boards, dyestuff manufacturing, pigment production, and various chemical synthesis processes. Its high reactivity and reliability make it an essential chemical across municipal, industrial, and manufacturing sectors.
